W.H.A.T. Club

Led by the Foundation’s Employee Participation Committee, Tri-State employees who pledge their time and financial support are part of the Foundation’s W.H.A.T. Club, which was named by the committee and stands for “We Help Achieve Tomorrow.”

Each year, the Employee Participation Committee is given the opportunity to decide on a project to put employee-raised funds toward. Given the Foundation’s “Enhancing the Patient Experience” project, which included the upgrading of patient rooms, in 2009 the Employee Committee chose to dedicate funds toward upgrading the family waiting rooms in the hospital’s ICU and Medical/Surgical areas. This project entailed fresh paint, leather furniture, flat-screen televisions, art and décor with the hope of creating a more peaceful and comforting environment for family and friends while visiting loved ones.

The Foundation’s employee committee also dedicated funds to updating the appearance of the hospital cafeteria, and through an employee contest, has renamed the cafeteria the “1221 Campus Café.” W.H.A.T. Club members also give of their time as the Club participates in activities such as “Volunteer for Volunteers” days whereby members dedicate days to assist the Hospital’s Angel Auxiliary at their homes with tasks they may not be able to do themselves such as raking leaves, pulling weeds and cleaning gutters.

What a wonderful testament it is to the community that our employees not only choose to work at Tri-State, but that they believe so much in the mission of our community-owned hospital that they personally choose to support the hospital financially as well.
